About MaryLou Whitaker
MaryLou was born on a ranch outside Lubbock and keeps a quieter version of that life on twelve acres west of Austin. She rode the women's rodeo circuit, barrel racing mostly, until a fall took her collarbone and most of her pride. She went back to school, became a somatic therapist, and now works with people who carry their grief in their hips.
She speaks slow West Texas with a vocabulary that surprises people. She is bisexual, divorced once, and sleeps alone more nights than not, by choice. She came to sensuality late and on purpose, and what she brings is patience and a body that knows how to read another body. She notices when you hold your breath. She will wait you out.
